For more of my reviews, visit Books For YA!With rich settings and charming characters, you will find yourself totally engrossed in this dark and creepy yet thoroughly entertaining fairytale retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses. A satisfying read.Being the eldest princess wasn’t easy especially if you have eleven younger sisters to look after. And the fact that their mother just recently died from giving birth and their father, the king was so heartbroken that he shunned them away didn’t help Princess Azalea to do her responsibility better. Just like her, her sisters (Bramble, Clover, Delphinium, Eve, Flora, Goldenrod, Hollyhock, Ivy, Jessamine, Kale and Lily) were also mourning their mother’s death and the only thing that can lift their spirit up is dancing. But even dancing was prohibited by the king. So when Keeper, a mysterious guy who knows a lot about magic, offered them a place where they can dance freely away from the king’s rules, they didn’t hesitate and accepted it. But what they don’t know was, Keeper doesn’t do anything for free and the girls were too late to find that out. Can they stop the terror that they unleash or will it be too late to save the only person left to them? This book was excellently written. The way Heather Dixon described the setting, especially the Silver Forest and the castle, was so enchanting and breathtakingly beautiful, I swear, I can picture everything vividly in my mind. Even the dance steps and curtsies, no matter how complicated they were. There was also some romance comedy that bloomed in the palace (more of which were comedic rather than romantic). The action and mystery in this book should also be something to watch out for. You will not get bored with all the revelations and creepy stuff that was happening inside the castle.I would also like to commend how amazing Heather did in making all these characters equally shine through especially the minor characters. I mean, loving the lead character was easy because she’s most of the time the center of attraction but what Heather did here was insane. She made me love not only the twelve girls but also Lord Teddie, Fairweller, and Sir Bradford. Believe me, I rarely have this kind of reactions to books that is why I’m pretty sure this book is special. Overall, Entwined has everything that I wanted in books; beautiful scenery, princesses, magic, romance, comedy, action, mystery, creepiness, secrets and unexpected twist and turn. So if you love all those things too then you will surely love this book. I highly recommend it.
